What to expect

The busiest Croatia–Serbia crossing and the main diaspora artery to and from Central Europe. Expect the heaviest queues on summer weekends — outbound toward Serbia on Friday and Saturday mornings, and on the late-August return wave. Trucks routinely wait far longer than cars. Overnight (roughly 00:00–05:00) is usually the quietest window.

The EU Entry/Exit System applies at the EU side of this crossing — non-EU travellers may be fingerprinted and photographed on first entry, which can add time in peak season.
Tip
If Bajakovo is jammed, Tovarnik–Šid on the old parallel road is the usual alternate for cars.
